Materia Essences are a return to the practice and profession of natural perfumery.
Our scents conjure the eternal and ever-present consciousness of the prima materia - a burst of light - the world’s spirit. Stars to soil, all that is here now, has always been here. What was once something old, now something new.
We are of the world, a state of being. We move with the world’s eye and collect the experiences and memories of our ingredients.
And we sample the essence of the world, in a return to it’s beginning - perfumery in it’s purest, most natural form, designed to move with you through days, nights, seasons, and years. Just as the elements — earth, wind, fire water — have changing states of being, their constituents too, can vary over time, as the form of their ingredients in nature may shift: flow, move, burn, change.
Where a smell lingers, and leave impression and memory, our product shouldn’t: we are commited to sourcing quality, and enduring ingredients, and are ensuring our processes leave only a scent to be desired.
Our perfumes exist as in harmony as phases of your life, or ‘states of being’: earth, air, water and fire, to carry you from day to night, north to south, season to season, new moon to full moon.
Materia is committed to sustainable practices. We use certified organic essential oils and botanicals when available. We endeavour to only use ingredients that are ethically and sustainably harvest.
We use recycled, recyclable and reusable packaging where possible.
As this is a natural product, staining may occur.
